JOB PURPOSE:The selected candidate will performs highly responsible supervisory work involving coordinating, overseeing, and maintaining Tampa Fire Rescue’s (TFR) Supply Division and reserve fleet warehouse.


  • Plans, assigns, supervises and reviews the work of subordinate personnel.

  • Maintains TFR's Supply Division warehouse, which houses reserve engines, aerial trucks and

    reserve rescue vehicles.

  • Coordinates maintenance on a daily basis with shop and vendors; replaces lost and/or damaged

    equipment on apparatus.

  • Writes specifications for equipment, clothing, safety gear, and services required by TFR and

    supported by Supply.

  • Maintains responsibility for portable radios, scanners and base stations being picked up for


  • Oversees fabrication and repairs of engine and aerial units hose bed covers, canvas bags, tool

    pouches and windsocks.

  • Responsible for the weekly delivery of station supplies, rescue supplies, linen services, uniforms,

    clothing salvage, safety equipment, fluids for apparatus, forms, paper and office supplies.

  • Coordinates the monthly clothing salvage that requires the picking up of clothing, writing of

    orders, reconciliation of monthly invoices against receipts for payment.

  • Responsible for the decontamination of equipment and clothing.

  • Researches equipment and product knowledge in order to make recommendations for purchasing.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all safety violations written up by City Safety Inspectors for all fire stations and divisions are corrected; keeps abreast of current regulations involving Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

  • Performs related work as required.


Extensive knowledge of: principles, practices and techniques of fire department operations;fire related apparatus, equipment, materials, supplies and parts; warehouse maintenance techniques.

Considerable knowledge of: standard methods, practices and procedures employed in the acquisition and storage of supplies; inventory and storage systems; occupational hazards,appropriate safety precautions and disposal techniques; OSHA and NFPA regulations.

Working knowledge: computers and office equipment; forklift operations; floor cleaning machines; maintenance of medium size trucks, sedans and commercial lawn equipment; custom measuring and fitting of safety equipment and bunker gear for fire personnel; effective supervisory techniques; city bidding, contracting and purchasing.

Ability to: organize, coordinate, schedule and supervise a wide variety of maintenance, repair and work activities; estimate material and equipment needs; maintain records and prepare and present complete reports clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; utilize computer systems; write specifications on equipment, gear and services; make time, material and cost estimates; assign, supervise and train subordinate personnel; communicate well both verbally and in writing; negotiate, develop and maintain effective working relationships with vendors,

department personnel, employees, representatives of other agencies and the public; deal effectively with vendors to enforce the terms of a contract; maintain records and compile clear and concise reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees,contractors and the general public.


Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree in materials management, wholesale distribution, business administration, fire science, or a related field, and five (5) years of experience in the materials management field with three (3) years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES: Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license.
