Have you ever thought that you would like to learn about law enforcement, or were just curious about how certain aspects of law enforcement are handled and why?

If you answered yes, then you can get a live, up close, and accurate view of police work by attending the Tampa Police Department's Citizens Academy.

The Tampa Police Department is inviting you to join its hands-on Citizens Academy which truly takes you behind the scenes and shows you a part of the rigorous training that prepares Tampa Police Officers for their daily duties of protecting and serving the citizens of our city. 

The department holds up to two academies per year that consist of five evening sessions and one full Saturday session.

Tampa Police Department's Citizens Academy activities include:

  • Emergency vehicle operations
  • Specialty team demonstrations
  • Scenario-based exercises
  • Interactive forum

Citizens Academy Requirements:

  • Participants must be 18 years of age.
  • Must submit to a background check.
  • Must submit a completed application.
  • Must participate in scheduled academy sessions.
